World Bank Lending Up Strongly: The World Bank said loan approvals jumped by more than 8% in 1994-95, paced by big increases in credit to Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. For the year ending June 30, the bank said it approved $22.5 billion in new loans to developing nations, compared with $20.8 billion in the previous fiscal year. The biggest increase in lending was to Latin America and the Caribbean--up nearly $1.3 billion to just over $6 billion.
