Services for Orange County businessman Frank C. Harrington will be held today at the Waverly Chapel in Santa Ana.

The 92-year-old Leisure World resident, whose 50-year career included stints as lumberman, developer and retailer, died Thursday of complications from a stroke he suffered a month ago.

Harrington and his late partner, Gil Ward, founded a lumber company in 1944 and went on to establish six more lumberyards and a chain of home improvement centers in Orange County.

Harrington, who came to Southern California from Indiana in 1926, played a leading role in developing Cameo Shores in Newport Beach. He also co-owned the Emporium on Disneyland’s Main Street before eventually selling it back to Walt Disney.

Harrington is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel, in Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 E. Fairhaven Drive.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center Foundation in Laguna Hills.
