MOORPARK : Teachers, District Reach Tentative Pact
- Share via
After more than two years without a contract, union officials representing teachers in Moorpark have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with the school district.
The tentative pact was announced in a joint news release issued by the two sides late Tuesday. Neither school board members nor union leaders could be reached for comment.
The union rank and file and the members of the Moorpark Board of Education must vote on the agreement to make it final.
Relations between the two sides had become strained over the past year as district officials struggled with projected budget shortfalls, and teachers stewed over working for four years without a cost-of-living raise.
Last fall, district teachers picketed the first day of school, demanding a raise and a new contract.
