WESTWOOD : Women’s Health Center Opens Saturday

The Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center will celebrate its grand opening Saturday with health seminars and tours of the facility.

The center was created to provide health care tailored to women and to encourage women to consult a primary-care physician, said Dr. Mitzi Krockover, director of the facility.

“There are large numbers of women who don’t have a primary care relationship with any doctor,” she said. “They may see specialists for specific problems, but no one doctor ever sees them as a whole.”

The clinic, located on campus at 100 Medical Plaza, will integrate UCLA’s medical research and education programs into its health care delivery, Krockover said. In addition, the center offers easy access and referral to specialty treatment available at UCLA, she said.

The center took more than a year to plan and construct. It was made possible by a gift from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation, which provides funding for medical, educational and cultural institutions across the country.
