CAMARILLO : Children’s Center to Dedicate Ball Field
A Camarillo shelter and residential treatment center for abused and neglected children will dedicate a softball field today to former board member and community activist Carl Lowthorp.
Lowthorp helped create Casa Pacifica, which has housed more than 325 children in its first year.
Lowthorp, a Camarillo resident who died at age 58 in 1992, practiced law in Ventura County for 28 years and was active in charitable organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard, Camarillo Youth Football, United Way and Casa Pacifica.
He was a member of Casa Pacifica’s board of directors for three years. The facility’s softball field will be called the “Carl Lowthorp Field of Dreams.”
The dedication, followed by a children’s softball game, will be at 10:30 a.m. at 1722 S. Lewis Road, Camarillo.
