Westside : OFF THEIR PEDESTAL

Share

Culver City residents want to keep an eye on their politicians.

That’s why the City Council chambers, which opened in June, now face $20,000 or more in architectural fixes.

It seems the new chamber’s dais is built too high for council members to be easily seen by the audience. City officials have suggested lowering it--at a cost of $18,000.

And that’s not all. Council members want more lighting, which is estimated to cost about $1,500, as well as better microphones.

The council plans to make a list of proposed changes and deal with them all at once.
