Central Los Angeles : HELP ON THE WAY
After a year of helping neighborhood residents find everything from medical care to gang intervention services, the Hyde Park/LEARN Family Service Center wanted to let more people know about help available in the neighborhood.
So the center invited 50 public and private social service agencies to Hyde Park Elementary School for a community health fair July 19.
Besides games and prize giveaways, the 1,500 people who made it to the fair got free immunizations for their children and had a chance to chat with City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter and County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.
Center Director Muriel Bragg said Hyde Park, which has one of the highest Latino populations in the mostly black Crenshaw district, badly needs the center’s services.
