The National Weather Service has a little advice for those who want to stay cool this weekend.

“Head to the beach,” said meteorologist technician Bob Cari. “That is going to be the coolest place, by far.”

On Friday, Ojai checked in at 109 while Simi Valley came close at 106, Cari said.

Ventura reached 79 as temperatures hovered in the low 70s along the coast, Cari said.

Cari said temperatures are expected to reach into the triple digits inland throughout the weekend and remain there until Tuesday or longer. Skies will be sunny, Cari said.

Temperatures will reach the mid-70s along the coast and the mid-80s a little farther inland, Cari said.

Nighttime temperatures will dip into the low 60s throughout the county with the coast experiencing low clouds and fog through the early morning, Cari said.

Meanwhile, lifeguards are gearing up for a busy weekend.

“The beaches should be crowded,” said Ventura lifeguard Deirdre Fisher. “It’s nice out here.”
