Trout and Mosquitoes Biting in Eastern Sierra

Trout have become more active in many waters of the Eastern Sierra recently, but the fish aren’t the only ones biting.

The heavy snowmelt and more standing water than the region normally has this late in the summer have produced a haven for mosquitoes, which are swarming by the millions.

“We had snow into June, so we’re looking at conditions we usually have in April and May, but it’s much hotter and the mosquitoes just love it,” said Melinda Steiger, spokeswoman for the Bishop Chamber of Commerce.
