COSTA MESA : Neighborhood Ready for Beautification

Share

Braving the hot weather, dozens of people have volunteered to paint fences, plant trees and pick up trash in their neighborhood Saturday.

The focus of the annual Neighbors for Neighbors Clean-Up Day this year will be make-overs for three houses as well as a general cleanup of the area along Shalimar Drive.

“It is a chance to help people who, for whatever reason, own homes but can’t afford to keep them up,” said Paul Miller, coordinator of Costa Mesa’s Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program.

Miller said one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Neighbors for Neighbors program is a man who bought materials to build a fence but abandoned the project after suffering an injury.

The work will be done from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a city-sponsored picnic for the volunteers.
