Easy Win for Not Surprising
Not Surprising won his second consecutive race, earning a two-length victory Sunday in the 11th running of the $119,000, Grade II, A Phenomenon Stakes.
With Robbie Davis aboard, Not Surprising closed strongly in the middle of the track to take the lead in deep stretch and defeat Chimes Band. Mining Burrah was another length behind in third.
Not Surprising, a Florida-bred 5-year-old, won the Finger Lakes Budweiser Breeders’ Cup, a Grade III sprint, in his prior start. The victory, worth $71,400 for owner Robert Van Woro, was Not Surprising’s sixth in 10 starts.
