Obituaries : * Kenneth G. Macleod; Headed Construction Firm

Kenneth G. Macleod, president of Macleod Construction Co. and a lifetime Ventura resident, died Sunday after a brief illness. He was 71.

Macleod, a Ventura High School graduate, obtained a degree in engineering at USC. While stationed at Ft. Ord during his service in the National Guard, Ken met his wife, Tootie.

After his discharge from the military, Macleod returned to Ventura to work in the family business for his father, George. Macleod took over Macleod Construction after his father’s death in 1970.

Macleod also served on the Ventura County grand jury and was a lifetime member of the Downtown Rotary Club.

Family members said he enjoyed collecting books, listening to classical music and opera and spending time with his children.

They said he will be remembered for his gracious manner and quick smile.

Macleod’s wife died in January. He is survived by three daughters, Lynne Macleod and Gayle Macleod of Ventura and Joyce Johnson of Santa Barbara; a son, Keith Macleod of Santa Barbara; a grandson, Jared Macleod, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are under the arrangements of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
