A draft copy of the state’s master plan for special education is on display at the downtown Ventura Library through Sept. 30, state education officials said Tuesday.
The proposed plan outlines the state’s policies and procedures regarding services for special-needs students, including early-childhood education, inclusion into mainstream classes when possible and program and instructor standards.
Forms for people to submit comments will be available at the library.
Ventura County residents also will have a chance to comment on the plan at a public hearing scheduled for Sept. 12 in the Santa Barbara County Office of Education. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the board room, said Susie Lange, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Education.
Copies of the plan are available on request in Spanish, Braille, large print, audiotape and computer disk, Lange said. For more information, call Steven Johnson at (916) 445-4741.
