Glendora Sports Park will be renamed Louie Pompei Sports Park, in honor of the first police officer to die in the line of duty in the city’s 108-year history, the City Council decided this week.
The 20-acre park at 1100 S. Valley Center Ave. includes a softball and soccer field and a playground.
Pompei, 30, was fatally shot June 9, when he tried to intervene in a robbery at a Vons supermarket in San Dimas.
