Valleywide : Businesses to Collect Used Oil for Disposal

Share

Three San Fernando Valley businesses have been designated by the state as used-oil recycling collection centers as part of a statewide effort to prevent contamination of drinking water through improper disposal.

Participating businesses are paid 4 cents per quart under the state’s Used Oil Recycling Program and will accept up to 20 gallons per person per day.

Since the program was launched in 1992, more than 1,400 businesses throughout the state have been designated as oil collection centers. Funding for the program, which is operated by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, comes from a tax on oil sold in the state.
