Countywide : County Jobs Structure to Be Discussed
A handful of elected officials will lead a public forum tonight on whether certain county posts should be elected or appointed positions.
Auditor-Controller Steve E. Lewis, Clerk-Recorder Gary L. Granville, Treasurer-Tax Collector John M. W. Moorlach and Public Administrator-Guardian William A. Baker have agreed to speak at the forum, sponsored by the Orange County Charter Commission.
The charter commission has been holding meetings to gather public information for a proposed ballot measure that would change Orange County from general law to a charter form of government.
Supporters say the change would give voters greater say in how the county operates, a key issue in the wake of its December bankruptcy filing.
The commission, comprising 33 volunteers approved by the supervisors, hopes to place the charter issue on the March ballot.
Tonight’s meeting will be at 6 at the Sea Country Senior & Community Center, 24602 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel.
