Share

Wondering what to do with that used motor oil, or those old cans of paint stashed away inside the garage?

Make an appointment to drop them off as part of Simi Valley’s Household Hazardous Waste Roundup.

Residents of Simi Valley and adjacent unincorporated areas of Ventura County are invited to make appointments to drop off their household hazardous waste free of charge.

The city will accept such potentially toxic material as old paints, solvents, antifreeze, motor oil, batteries, weed killers, household chemicals, photographic chemicals, furniture polishes and fluorescent light bulbs.

Space is limited for the roundup that begins Sept. 23, and appointments are required. Those dropping off hazardous material will also be limited to five gallons of liquid or 50 pounds of solid material and up to 20 gallons of motor oil (not more than five gallons per container.)

For more information or to schedule an appointment, residents may call the city’s Environmental Services Department at 583-6321.
