Wheat Probe Focuses on Two States: Investigators trying to pinpoint the source of contaminated wheat that led to a dog food recall are focusing on mills in Minnesota and North Dakota. Government officials stressed that there have been no recent reports of people getting sick from vomitoxin, so named for the stomach upset it can cause. But an investigation was initiated after Corona-based Nature’s Recipe Pet Foods recalled most of its dry dog food in July amid complaints from hundreds of owners that their dogs lost their appetites or threw up. The dog food was contaminated by wheat grown in 1994. “We would not expect it in human food, but we are going to look anyway,” said Food and Drug Administration spokesman Don Aird.
