OXNARD : School District Seeks High-Tech Advisers

Share

The Oxnard School District’s board of trustees is looking for parents and residents to help develop a district plan to make use of high-tech programs.

The board voted unanimously Wednesday to create a task force--which will include district staff and technology experts--to examine the district’s current technology curriculum and make recommendations to the board.

Issues the committee will research include whether to make Internet available to students, install telephone lines in each classroom, provide an encyclopedia on CDs and arrange classroom television access to schools across the country, said District Supt. Bernard Korenstein.

The task force will be the second created by the board to assist district officials in developing programs and goals.

Last month, the board formed a parent committee to make recommendations on techniques parents can use to help their children with homework and give them the emotional support needed to do well in school.

Volunteers wishing to participate on the educational technology committee should contact the district office at 487-3918.
