Share

During a San Fernando Valley Town Hall meeting Sunday, Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Feuer will host the opening of a new police community service center in his Sherman Oaks office.

The center is the second such facility opened in the past week in Feuer’s district, which stretches from North Hollywood to West Los Angeles. Earlier this week, community leaders and police opened a similar center in North Hollywood.

The Sherman Oaks center will be housed in Feuer’s office at 14310 Ventura Blvd. and will be staffed by Senior Lead Officer Ron Carpenter from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday and 1 to 3 p.m. every Thursday. Feuer hopes that eventually trained volunteers will be able to staff the center at other hours.

“These centers are helping us make important progress toward creating a safer environment within our city,” Feuer said.

“I look forward to working closer with police officials and my constituents to establish other service centers and substations throughout the 5th District.”

Feuer, a freshman councilman elected in June, campaigned heavily on the promise of opening dozens of service centers and substations to improve police protection in his district.

The Town Hall meeting will be at Feuer’s office from 5 to 7 p.m.
