Sylmar : Police Discount Link in Brinks Shootings

Los Angeles police detectives on Friday said they do not believe two gunmen who tried unsuccessfully to rob a Brinks armored truck this week are the same bandits responsible for another Brinks robbery in June.
“We don’t think there’s a connection,” Detective Tom Wich said. “But we haven’t ruled it out.”
Using a wheelchair as a distraction, two men on Thursday tried to rob a Brinks truck outside a Bank of America at Foothill Boulevard and Astoria Street in Sylmar, police said. The robbery turned deadly when gunfire erupted between one of the robbers and an armored guard.
The robber was fatally wounded in the shootout and the armored guard was injured. Wich declined to release the name of the dead robber.
