The Cincinnati Zoo plans to release more than 1,000 tadpoles into the Wyoming wild in an attempt to replenish their numbers. The Wyoming toad species numbers in the dozens and is considered near extinction.

The rejuvenation project, involving the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other zoos, started in October when the Cincinnati zoo received mature toads for mating purposes.
