Soccer at Coliseum
Bravo, Frank del Olmo. Finally somebody at The Times is paying attention to the potential of soccer for the Coliseum, and for the first time somebody in the English media said something good about soccer (Commentary, Aug. 18).
The future of soccer in Southern California looks better and brighter everyday. More and more, young and old, are playing futbol in the parks (where they permit soccer) and on schools fields from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Sooner or later the sleeping giant elephant of soccer is going to wake up, and the English media may see this game as they see the rest of the sports.
