VENTURA : $1,000 Reward Offered After Holdup at Arco

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a convenience store robber.

Police said the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash last week morning after holding up a mini-mart at 774 N. Ventura Ave. in Ventura.

Police reports described the suspect as an African American male in his mid- to late 20s who is about six feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

According to police, the robber entered the mini-mart at an Arco service station at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday wearing a bandanna and a San Francisco 49ers jacket. The man showed a handgun, police said, and demanded money from the clerk. Police said the clerk handed the man the money and the robber fled on foot.

The robber was gone when police arrived several minutes later, authorities said.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers asks that anyone with information about this incident call 385-TALK. Callers may remain anonymous. If the information leads to an arrest with a criminal complaint filed, Crime Stoppers said the caller will be eligible for the reward.
