VENTURA : Police Officer Hit With Bottle, Radio
A Ventura police officer was hit Tuesday with a bottle and portable radio after he stopped a pedestrian under suspicion of drinking in public.
Lonnie Jack Scissel, 51, of Ventura, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
Officer Jon Keller, who had been patrolling the Promenade on bicycle, stopped Scissel at California Street and Harbor Boulevard, police said. Scissel allegedly struck Keller, who was wearing a bicycle helmet, with a beer bottle and then with a portable radio, police said.
Keller was treated for minor cuts to his face and hands.
