Law Lenient for Drivers, Harsh for Motorcyclists

I was outraged after reading the tiny article in the July 24 paper about the motorcyclist killed in Reseda on Saturday evening. The article states that the driver of the auto was not [seriously] injured or held, but an investigation continued. Why? This person killed a motorcyclist while making an illegal left turn. Once again the legal system says it’s open season on motorcyclists. They force us to wear helmets “for our own good” but refuse to do anything about these killers behind the wheel. Considering the fact that more than 70% of motorcycle accidents are caused by auto drivers, why aren’t they being dealt with harshly?

It’s time to stop passing restricting laws and go after the primary cause of accidents and prosecute these drivers who have no regard for the life and well-being of motorcyclists. My sympathies go out to the family of the rider.
