Men Fined $3,000 Each in Butterfly-Poaching Case

PHOENIX — Two men were fined $3,000 each, placed on probation and ordered to stay away from wildlife sanctuaries for poaching rare butterflies from Grand Canyon National Park. The two could have been sentenced to 9-year prison terms.
Thomas Kral was placed on probation for three years. Richard Sklaski drew five months in a work furlough program and five months in a halfway house, to be followed by two years’ probation.
