The weekend offers a cornucopia of children’s fare, as the networks and syndicates present programming for the fall.
The best of the bunch includes ABC’s “The New Adventures of Madeline” (today at 7 a.m. on Channel 7), formerly seen on cable’s Family Channel; KCAL-TV Channel 9’s “Disney’s Sing Me a Story With Belle” (Sunday at noon); and WB’s “The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries” (today at 8:30 a.m. on Channel 5).
More family fare can be seen tonight when NBC repeats “TV’s Funniest Families II: The Kids” at 10 p.m., hosted by Alan Thicke. The special spotlights child characters in popular TV series such as “The Brady Bunch,” “Growing Pains” and “The Cosby Show.”
In sports, CBS serves the men’s singles semifinals and women’s singles finals of the U.S. Open tennis tournament today at 8 a.m. on Channel 2, followed on Sunday by the men’s finals at 1 p.m.
