Funds for Freeway Message Signs Sought

Share

Ventura County transportation officials voted Friday to apply for $1 million in state funds to install message signs along county highways to alert motorists of traffic jams, road closures and other problems.

If successful in acquiring the money, the county would install signs along the Ventura, Moorpark and Santa Paula freeways, according to Chris Stephens, manager of the county’s planning and highway programs.

The signs would be of particular help to motorists wishing to avoid congestion along the heavily traveled Ventura Freeway at times when portions of the roadway may be closed because of accidents or other problems, officials said.
