From Staff and Wire Reports

Bob Lohr, seeking his first PGA Tour victory in seven years, shot a five-under-par 67 Friday for a two-round total of 135 and a one-stroke lead over Andrew Magee in the Bell Canadian Open at Oakville.

Magee, whose last victory came at the 1994 Northern Telecom Open, shot 68 over chilly, wind-swept Glen Abbey Golf Course. Jim Gallagher Jr., a two-time winner this year, shot 68 and was at 137. Scott Dunlap, a U.S. native playing on the Canadian tour, had 67 for 138.

First-round leader Russ Cochran followed his 66 with an 80.

Miscellany

The Humane Society says it’s too hot and humid in Atlanta for horses to compete in the 1996 Summer Olympics and it wants the equestrian events canceled.
