Chaminade Defense Sets Up Offense, Overwhelms Agoura

A swarming Chaminade High defense held Agoura to minus 23 yards and gave its offense excellent field position as the Eagles smothered the Chargers, 51-6, in a nonleague game Friday night.

Chaminade sacked Agoura sophomore quarterback Ryan McCann six times for 48 yards in losses and held Agoura to one first down. The Chargers were limited to three or fewer plays in eight of their nine possessions.

Chaminade started drives at the Agoura one, nine, 24, 44, 47 and 48, as well as its own 31, 48 and 49.

Chaminade quarterback Jason Zdenek completed 11 of 16 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 71 yards in 10 carries, including an eight-yard score. Jason Giovannettone rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns in 16 times.

Peter Foy, a defensive end and tight end, had two sacks, including one that caused a fumble that he recovered for a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 40 yards and another score.

The lone Agoura highlight was a 98-yard kickoff return by Teddest McKinney 33 seconds before halftime.
