A young man who was shot in the chest at a Denny’s restaurant after being chased there by three other people was listed in stable condition Saturday, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released but was described as being 20 to 25 years old, apparently got into an argument with two men and a woman at the Boston Market restaurant on Sherman Way about 6 p.m. Friday, police said.

The trio chased the young man from the restaurant across the street to Denny’s, at 14440 Sherman Way, where they cornered him in the bathroom and shot him once in the chest. The bullet passed through and went out under the man’s arm, hitting a bathroom wall and landing on the floor, where police found it.

The victim, who crawled into the dining area, was taken to an area hospital.

Police in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys division said they believe that the shooting was gang-related. They would not release any further information about the victim or the suspects.
