OXNARD : Police Arrest 4 Drivers at Sobriety Checkpoint

Oxnard police nabbed three suspected drunk drivers and arrested a motorist allegedly traveling with a loaded firearm during the department’s 10th sobriety checkpoint, police said Saturday.
Staged on Pleasant Valley Road near C Street, the checkpoint screened 746 vehicles between 7 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. In addition to the drunk driving arrests, officers cited 20 drivers for license violations and towed 13 vehicles belonging to impaired or unlicensed drivers.
Officers arrested another driver for having outstanding warrants.
According to Oxnard Police Officer Ken Klopman, fatal and injury accidents involving alcohol have decreased in Oxnard since June 30.
The department’s 11th sobriety and license checkpoint is set for Sept. 16 in southwest Oxnard.
