SOMIS : Board to Vote on Silt-Removal Pact

Share

A Somis-based general contracting firm stands to land a $261,078 contract with Ventura County to remove about 33,400 cubic yards of silt deposited west of Fillmore during the winter storms.

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors is set to vote Tuesday on awarding the contract to T. A. Staben Inc., which submitted the lowest bid for the project. The firm’s bid was 17% lower than a public works agency estimate of $313,000 for the silt removal.

If the supervisors award the bid to T. A. Staben, the firm will be responsible for both the removal and the disposal of the silt left in the Jepson Debris Basin during the January and March storms.

Documents state that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state of California will fully reimburse the county for the project’s cost.
