Two additional Ventura County banks were hit Tuesday by robbers, who police say are still at large.

The heists, which appear to be unrelated incidents, put the total number of bank robberies in the county at 27 this year, according to the FBI.

The scene of the latest robberies were at the Bank of America at 455 S. A St. in Oxnard and the Home Savings Bank at 3310 Telegraph Road in Ventura.

The Bank of America branch was robbed about 9:15 a.m. by a man described by tellers as a Latino in his 30s, about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 170 pounds. The man slipped a note to one of the tellers that indicated he had a gun and the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.

This branch was hit only last month by the so-called “taxi cab bandit,” who was later apprehended by police.

The Home Savings branch was robbed about 3:45 p.m. by a man described as a white male in his mid-20s about 5-foot-8 and weighing about 160 pounds. In that incident, the man also passed a note to a teller asking that she hand over cash. He then placed the money in a bag and left the bank.

The FBI is investigating both robberies.
