Westside : New Flight Path Weighed for Airport
Los Angeles City Councilmen Marvin Braude and Mike Feuer will lead a community meeting today to discuss plans at Santa Monica Airport to establish a new flight path that would bring planes directly over several Westside neighborhoods.
The airport is considering a proposal to install a new “localizer” that would direct planes over Beverlywood, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista and other areas close to the airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration is considering whether to allow the airport to install the localizer. Braude and Feuer have asked the FAA to consider flight paths that would not go over as much of the West Los Angeles area.
Today’s meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m., at Castle Heights Elementary School, 9755 Cattaraugus Ave.
