Northridge : Police to Flip Pancakes at Breakfast Benefit

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division will be cooking up a mess of pancakes Saturday morning at a breakfast to benefit the division’s budget.
Sponsored by Supporters of Law Enforcement in Devonshire, the second annual pancake breakfast will raise money for a variety of community policing projects within the division, including the purchase of computers and graffiti-removal equipment, said Jeanne Travers, the event’s chairwoman.
“One of the things that the pancake breakfast does is create the money for the senior lead officers’ budget,” she said.
According to Travers, last year’s event raised more than $8,000 and SOLID members are proud of the fact that approximately 95% of the funds went to the police.
At Saturday’s breakfast, she noted that the senior lead officers themselves will be doing the cooking, with SOLID members serving.
“It’s a joint venture,” she said.
The breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Northridge Park’s picnic area. Tickets are $2. The park is at the corner of Reseda Boulevard and Mayall Street. For more information, call (818) 363-7955.
