LOOKS 9, MUSIC 10

Bush being one of my favorite band’s, I read “Burning Bush” (by Elysa Gardner, Sept. 17) and was bothered by the way the author assumes that the only appeal the band has toward teen-age girls is their good looks.
I am 14 years old and I can assure you that I would never listen to a band’s music just because the lead singer is cute, and I cannot think of a single person at my school that would disagree with me. The first time I ever heard “Everything Zen,” “Little Things” and “Comedown” was on the radio, so I bought “Sixteen Stone” without knowing what Bush looked like (their videos move fast and are done with distorting lenses). Of course, when I got the CD, I thought Gavin Rossdale was handsome, but that never made me like his music more or less.
It annoys me that older people and teen-age boys can show up to concerts and people say that the music attracts them, but if a teen-age girl goes to a concert it is because she is attracted to the band members. Teen-age girls have ears too, you know.
