The Over the Hill Gang (OTHG), a Colorado-based travel group for seniors, offers discounts to its 3,200 members in the United States and Canada for skiing, white-water rafting, bicycling and golf trips. Discounts extend to lodging, car rentals, air travel, airport transfers, meals, sports equipment and rental services.

Ski areas in Oregon, California, New York, Vermont and Canada’s British Columbia and Quebec are among those in 27 states and Canadian provinces that participate in OTHG programs. In Colorado, members can choose from 17 ski areas including Aspen, Vail, Keystone, Steamboat and Breckenridge.

Upcoming trips for winter ‘95-’96 include a ski trip to Zermatt, Switzerland; ski trips to 12 U.S. ski areas; a special ski clinic for women, plus summer outdoor adventures including golfing in Scotland and Ireland, rafting in the Grand Canyon, a pack horse trip in Wyoming and bicycling in the San Juan Islands of Washington state.

Outdoor enthusiasts may enjoy the Homestead Resort in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains. Homestead Resort has been in operation for more than a century and for the past seven consecutive years it has received the AAA Four Diamond rating. In summer, guests can choose activities such as horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, swimming, barnyard picnics and private buggy rides, golfing, tennis, trout fishing and bicycling. In winter, skiing, ice skating, sleigh riding and snowmobiling are popular.

Discounts of 10% off rack rates are offered for members of the American Assn. of Retired Persons. Rates range $79-$135 for a room. Also available are suites with fireplaces; bed-and-breakfast quarters, and condos with two to four bedrooms, full kitchen, TV and private patios.

In summer, seniors receive a discount of $10 per person on the 18-hole Homestead Golf Course for play Sundays through Thursdays after noon.
