A roofing truck hit a power pole Monday and caused a 50-minute outage that stretched from downtown Ventura to Casitas Springs.

The truck struck a pole on East Simpson Street between Ventura Avenue and Cedar Place, blowing out an electrical transformer, said Lt. Brad Talbot of the Ventura Police Department.

About 3,400 residences and businesses were without electricity from about 1 to 1:50 p.m., said Mike Montoya, Southern California Edison Co. region manager.
