A 34-year-old man was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder and other felonies for the 1994 strangulation of a woman whose body was found on a street in Hawthorne.

A jury in Torrance Superior Court deliberated two days before finding Nathanael Montijo guilty of murder, plus one count of assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer and another charge of evading arrest.

Montijo faces a maximum term of life in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 23 for killing Amy White on April 9, 1994. The 25-year-old woman’s body was dumped on 199th Street.

After neighbors called police, Montijo fled in a car and rammed patrol cars before officers shot him.
