Shawn Walters will start at tailback for USC Saturday against Arizona State, said Coach John Robinson, adding that Leonard Green’s foot injury makes him doubtful this week.

Robinson also indicated that cornerback Brian Kelly will likely sit out a second consecutive game because of a sprained ankle.

USC linebacker Taso Papadakis could receive a rare sixth year of NCAA eligibility and his younger brother, Petros, could play for the Trojans next season, it was learned.

Taso Papadakis, a third-year sophomore linebacker, underwent season-ending knee surgery during preseason training camp. He was granted an extra year’s eligibility in 1993, when he broke his wrist in the season’s second game.

Petros Papadakis, a running back, signed a letter of intent with Cal last season, participated in three practices in August, and dropped out of school. Cal Coach Keith Gilbertson has released him from his letter of intent, freeing him to play for another Pac-10 school after sitting out one year.
