Depressed Mexican Police Officer Kills 3
A police officer who said he was depressed opened fire on rush-hour passengers in a crowded subway car Thursday, shooting three people to death and injuring five others, officials said.
The alleged killer, Ernesto Cruz Jimenez, 22, a member of the judicial police, was seized by an unarmed subway police officer after firing 10 rounds from his 9-millimeter pistol, they said.
In a radio interview from a police station where he was being held, Cruz said he suffered from depression. According to his sister Dolores, Cruz had tried to commit suicide twice recently.
