Update : Follow-up on the news : HUNTINGTON BEACH : Contractor Paid for Project Delays
The city has agreed to pay a contractor $315,000 in lost wages after it ordered the company to stop remodeling work on the Huntington Beach Art Center because city architects made mistakes in the design.
The city will pay the sum to Lewis Jorge Construction Inc., which stopped work after the discovery that the city’s architects erred in the window design, delaying the rehabilitation project, Deputy City Atty. Joe Barron said.
The construction company, which had nothing to do with the design, lost money, Barron said.
After months of delays and plan changes, the city hired a different construction company to complete the remodeling project this year.
