John S. Williams, president of the Saddleback College Board of Trustees, has been selected to serve on the Legislation and Finance Committee of the Community College League of California.
The panel tracks legislation that affects community colleges, and helps with the development of a yearly legislative plan. The committee, which is made up of community college trustees, staff members and students from around the state, also organizes advocacy efforts.
Williams, a retired sergeant of the Orange County marshal’s office, was elected to the Saddleback College board in 1992. He was a volunteer coach at the college for seven years.
Williams graduated with an associate degree from Saddleback in 1971. He continued his college education at the University of Iowa and Pepperdine University, where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree, respectively.
