SANTA PAULA : Fisher to Retire From School District Post

Share

After serving in the Santa Paula Union High School District for five years, both as principal and superintendent, Robert H. Fisher has announced that he will retire in June.

The 57-year-old superintendent said he will retire early because of health problems, including two neck surgeries in the past 10 months, which have had lingering effects.

Fisher was hired as the high school principal in 1990, and in July, 1993, he replaced Carolina Erie as superintendent. Before coming to Santa Paula, Fisher worked at the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

“We are going to miss him,” said Santa Paula High School Trustee Terry Nelson. “He has been very involved with the students, and he has improved the morale of teachers and staff.”

Nelson said the board of trustees plans to hire a consultant to search for a new superintendent.
