Obituaries : Edward F. Tallent; Longtime County Pharmacist
Edward F. Tallent, a longtime Ventura County pharmacist and one of the founding members of the Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce, died Thursday in a Ventura convalescent hospital after a brief illness. He was 77.
Tallent was born June 14, 1918. While attending USC, he was president of Phi Delta Chi fraternity from 1942 to 1943, before graduating in 1943.
Tallent joined the Navy during World War II, serving as a pharmacist mate 2nd Class from 1944 to 1946.
The managing pharmacist of Village Drugs in Ojai for many years, he later managed Drug King Pharmacy in Ventura from 1960 to 1973.
Tallent was a member of American Legion Post 339 of Ventura and Rotary Club International in Ojai.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas Edward Tallent and Terrence Francis Tallent; daughter Tena Kathryn Young; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Msgr. Arnold Biedermann of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating.
