COSTA MESA : Some City Workers May Get to Issue Tickets
Responding to complaints that ordinances are not being enforced, council members are considering giving some city bureaucrats the power to hand out tickets.
Under the proposal, city employees who spend time in the community as part of their normal duties would be allowed to cite people for municipal code violations, including abandoning shopping carts, exhibiting large advertising balloons and scavenging through garbage.
The proposal will be discussed at the council’s Oct. 16 meeting.
