Beckman Instruments Inc.: A group including investor George Soros has raised its stake in the Fullerton company to 7.73% from 6.3% In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the group said it bought 425,200 common shares from Sept. 27 to Oct. 9 at prices ranging from $29.52 to $31.19 a share. The group now holds an aggregate 2.24 million shares. Beckman Instruments is a life sciences and diagnostics company.
