Sherman Oaks : City Specialists Assist in Quake Recovery

Share

The city Community Development Department has hired two new earthquake recovery specialists to help earthquake victims in Sherman Oaks and surrounding areas.

The new staff members are working to match people whose homes or businesses suffered quake damage with financial aid programs designed to help them. They also are compiling a list of earthquake-damaged buildings in Sherman Oaks and nearby areas whose owners need financial assistance for rebuilding.

In addition, the staff members are working to assist people, such as senior citizens and the poor, with special needs related to earthquake recovery.

City Councilman Michael Feuer’s district office in Sherman Oaks, 14310 Ventura Blvd., is serving as the base of operations for the quake-recovery specialists, who function as a satellite crew for the city’s earthquake recovery center in Canoga Park.

The City Council in August approved a motion by Feuer allocating funds for the satellite office, which came from federal community development block grants.
